I am happy to say that I am the proud owner of the Toshiba Portege Ultrabook (Z835-P330) that have recently hit the streets and created a new sensation in mobile computing. If you haven’t seen the amusing video about this laptop in the ‘I Was Framed’ montage by Toshiba, you can see it here..
Although the laptop is sizzling with all the features expected of a modern ultra-slim laptop, it does have some quirks and this is most likely due to Toshiba trying to cram everything into its diminutive package while keeping the weight down. We have come a long way in material science advancement and this is all evident in the manufacture of cars where weight has been reduced but not compromising on strength or safety. We also see the same advances happening in battery technology where we are trying to get as much juice out of a small footprint as possible. Toshiba has made great strides in all those areas on these range of Ultrabooks but they needed to take some short cut, which I will explain later. First, let’s take a detailed look at this laptop.
The laptop comes well packaged and surprisingly with a very few accessories with just the laptop encased in plastic, a power adapter and a set of instructions. I plugged in the laptop and decided to charge it overnight before I would use it, talk about temptation beyond endurance!
